Our mountain home is nestled in the pine forests of Nederland, Colorado. Surrounded by the epic Rocky Mountains, this quiet mountain town of 1,337 people sits at 8,500 feet above sea level. A glance out the window reveals breathtaking scenery, gorgeous blue skies and snow capped peaks.

Altitude Camp - Home BaseMany opportunities for hiking, climbing, biking, mountain biking and skiing can be found here and in the neighboring ski resort town of El Dora, just 5 miles away. Nederland is home to several restaurants, coffee shops, a grocery store, book store, brewery, skate park and a few art and antique shops. The famous Peak to Peak Highway passes through Nederland and along it you will find many recreational parks with trails reaching 14,000 + feet such as Brainard Lake and Caribou Ranch. The scenic Peak to Peak Highway headed north out of Nederland brings you to Estes Park- the gateway of the Rocky Mountain National Park where the movie “Cliffhanger” was filmed. Traveling on a southern route out of Nederland for 25 miles on the Peak to Peak highway will bring you to Idaho Springs, where you can find many options for white water rafting. Idaho Springs is also the starting point of Mount Evans Scenic Byway, a paved road climbing to 14,000 feet.

Just 18 miles down the canyon you will find Boulder, Colorado (elevation 5,430 feet), a lively college city full of great restaurants, bars, and shopping. The canyon road down from Nederland into Boulder descends 3,000 feet and has many points to stop for a hike or climb, such as Boulder Canyon Falls or Sugar Loaf Mountain. Following this descent is Boulder Creek, which eventually winds its way through downtown Boulder. The creek is a great place for inner tubing or picnicking.

Pearl Street In Boulder ColoradoRunning parallel to the creek, the Pearl Street Mall is an outdoor shopping area with street performers, restaurants, and local art shops. With over 300 sunny days a year, being outdoors and active is a way of life in Boulder. Local and organic food is prevalent, and the Boulder Farmers market every Wednesday and Saturday is the largest farmers market in Colorado. A mecca for professional athletes, Boulder offers a multitude of triathlons, cycling events, and running races throughout the year. The "Bolder Boulder 10k" attracts 50,000 athletes to compete every Memorial day. Boulder is a huge cycling town with plenty of bike lanes, routes, and bike shops to be found. Excel Sports headquarters, VeloNews Magazine, and the Indoor Cycling track are also located in Boulder. The close proximity of Boulder and Nederland make it convenient to "Live High & Train Low".

Don’t forget Denver is only 25 miles from Boulder. The mile high city is home to the Denver International Airport, Denver Art Museum, Zoo, and Botanic Gardens. Other attractions include plenty of shopping, restaurants, and the Miller/Coors Brewery. Denver also has 8 professional sports teams including baseball, basketball, soccer, football, hockey lacrosse, and rugby. A day trip to Denver is convenient and easily accessible from Nederland.
