Our mountain home is nestled in the pine forests of
Nederland, Colorado. Surrounded by the epic Rocky Mountains, this
quiet mountain town of 1,337 people sits at 8,500 feet above sea
level. A glance out the window reveals breathtaking scenery,
gorgeous blue skies and snow capped peaks.

Many
opportunities for hiking, climbing, biking, mountain biking and
skiing can be found here and in the neighboring ski resort town of
El Dora, just 5 miles away. Nederland is home to several
restaurants, coffee shops, a grocery store, book store, brewery,
skate park and a few art and antique shops. The famous Peak to Peak
Highway passes through Nederland and along it you will find many
recreational parks with trails reaching 14,000 + feet such as
Brainard Lake and Caribou Ranch. The scenic Peak to Peak Highway
headed north out of Nederland brings you to Estes Park- the gateway
of the Rocky Mountain National Park where the movie “Cliffhanger”
was filmed. Traveling on a southern route out of Nederland for 25
miles on the Peak to Peak highway will bring you to Idaho Springs,
where you can find many options for white water rafting. Idaho
Springs is also the starting point of Mount Evans Scenic Byway, a
paved road climbing to 14,000 feet.
Just 18 miles down the canyon you will find Boulder, Colorado
(elevation 5,430 feet), a lively college city full of great
restaurants, bars, and shopping. The canyon road down from Nederland
into Boulder descends 3,000 feet and has many points to stop for a
hike or climb, such as Boulder Canyon Falls or Sugar Loaf Mountain.
Following this descent is Boulder Creek, which eventually winds its
way through downtown Boulder. The creek is a great place for inner
tubing or picnicking.

Running
parallel to the creek, the Pearl Street Mall is an outdoor shopping
area with street performers, restaurants, and local art shops. With
over 300 sunny days a year, being outdoors and active is a way of
life in Boulder. Local and organic food is prevalent, and the
Boulder Farmers market every Wednesday and Saturday is the largest
farmers market in Colorado. A mecca for professional athletes,
Boulder offers a multitude of triathlons, cycling events, and
running races throughout the year. The "Bolder Boulder 10k" attracts
50,000 athletes to compete every Memorial day. Boulder is a huge
cycling town with plenty of bike lanes, routes, and bike shops to be
found. Excel Sports headquarters, VeloNews Magazine, and the Indoor
Cycling track are also located in Boulder. The close proximity of
Boulder and Nederland make it convenient to "Live High & Train Low".
Don’t forget Denver is only 25 miles from Boulder. The mile high
city is home to the Denver International Airport, Denver Art Museum,
Zoo, and Botanic Gardens. Other attractions include plenty of
shopping, restaurants, and the Miller/Coors Brewery. Denver also has
8 professional sports teams including baseball, basketball, soccer,
football, hockey lacrosse, and rugby. A day trip to Denver is
convenient and easily accessible from Nederland.
As you can see, Nederland Colorado is a quiet mountain getaway
surrounded by cosmopolitan cities and a wealth of outdoor recreation
possibilities. Enjoy the quiet of the mountains and train hard to
achieve your athletic goals, or experience a recreational vacation
with trips into the city for dining out, tourism, and entertainment.
